Scott Lam is a piano tutor at University of New South Wales and was a piano consultant for Sydney Eisteddfods for many years. He was the adjudicator for Sydney Sauter Piano Competition in 2017, SutherlandShire Eisteddfod in 2018 and La Pianista Piano Competition in 2018 and 2019. He is a senior examiner for the Con Brio Online Music Exam.
Scott studied piano with many renowned professors in Australia, Germany and Hong Kong including Margaret Hair, Katherine Lambert, Paul Rickard-Ford, Wei Tsin Fu and Eleanor Wong. He also has travelled widely to listen to masterclasses in piano festivals taught by John Perry and Robert McDonald.
Scott completed a double degree in Music and Education at UNSW and a research thesis on 'Notation of Modern Piano Music' under the supervision of Dr Christine Logan's. He has also obtained the Associate and Licentiate diplomas in piano performance from AMEB.
Besides piano performance, Scott is also a multi-awards winning composer whose works have been selected to perform live in the music gala concerts at UNSW for two consecutive years.
Scott is an esteemed and experienced teacher with many students having passed AMusA and LMusA diplomas in AMEB exams (one student passed AMusA with distinction at the age of 12). His students are winners of many first prizes in Sydney eisteddfod and other competitions and also full music scholarship holders of prestigious private schools in Sydney.
In 2017, Australian Music Examinations Board AMEB nsw awarded Scott the most outstanding private teacher (Keyboard grade 7-licentiate), this was the most prestigious piano teacher award and only one teacher is selected yearly in the states of NSW and ACT combined.
